Nga Taiatea Wharekura’s strategy is likened to a waka that has 3 hulls. Nga Taiatea Wharekura is in the Tainui region among the tribes of Waikato, committed to supporting the Kingitanga.

Nga Taiatea is in Hamilton and serves whanau from all around the Waikato region and many whanau who send their children to Hamilton so that they can come to Nga Taiatea. Tainui tikanga is a major focus together with service to the Kingitanga. Most of the students at Nga Taiatea are from Tainui and we honour the elders, marae, hapu and iwi for your support, guidance and commitment.

There are many students from tribes all over New Zealand who come to Tainui to go to Nga Taiatea. It is a privilege to have students from all over Aotearoa here at Nga Taiatea Wharekura.

Nga Taiatea will always honour the families, the Kura Kaupapa Maori and Maori Immersion units in this region who fought for the establishment of a Kaupapa Maori secondary school here in Hamilton. It is due to these families, schools and communities that Nga Taiatea was established.

Nga Taiatea also acknowledges our relationships with the tertiary providers (Wananga, Universities, Polytechnics, etc.), community organisations and corporations in the region and beyond for you continued. E kore e mutu nga mihi ki a koutou katoa.

Nga Taiatea honours the wider whanau, including the many other kura from around Aotearoa and beyond for your support, guidance and wisdom. Nei ra te mihi o te ngakau ki a koutou katoa.
